The weekend highs here in Missouri last weekend were in the low teens with morning wind chills up to ten below! Friday’s ice storm was proceeded by plummeting temperatures then snow on Saturday. If you are a Midwesterner like me, the time has come to dress climate appropriately.

Now is when I turn to cold weather fabrics and materials such as cozy knits, cashmere and wool to keep me warm. When it comes to a well-made sweater, there is something to be said for quality over quantity. Check your labels! If it contains mostly polyester, keep shopping!

Today’s look is chic yet still practical for winter weather. I have found several similar options to the black sweater I am wearing since my sweater, by BCBGMaxazria, is from last year. I love it so much I own it in black, navy and cream. It is 100% wool and so incredibly warm without being boxy or itchy. The leopard print gloves from Banana Republic are a fun addition to any neutral combination. The gloves add a little extra pizzazz to an otherwise basic ensemble. Not to mention, theses gloves are so practical–my poor hands are already feeling raw from the bitterly cold temperatures!

The second look is again, basic, but warm (cream sweater is also 100% wool), and stylish. The material makes all the difference in the world!

My hot pink gloves are genuine leather and cashmere lined.

Ear muffs are faux fur by Tommy Bahama.

Less than four days until Christmas! Stay warm, everyone!

Cheers,

Sara
